What does a warehouse worker in a chocolate factory do?

Our forklift operators are responsible for delivering supplies to the various production areas. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to keep our high-quality chocolate production line running smoothly. They deliver incoming goods to the departments that need them or methodically arrange them in the warehouse, entering the necessary information for each product into the computer system. Depending on the workload, forklift operators may also prepare orders for shipment the next day.

A day in the life of a forklift operator

You always start your day by inspecting your forklift. In your job, safety is paramount and inspecting your forklift ensures that it’s in safe working order.

The factory is quiet when you arrive because production hasn’t started yet. You make the first delivery of raw materials, packaging, and other supplies to the operators, who are preparing their equipment for production. You check in with them throughout the day, as they will have multiple supply requests for you.

Production gets going and boy does it smell good! When the pallets are loaded, you wrap them in plastic and take them to the designated part of the warehouse. You are thorough and organized in rotating products as needed. Sometimes you have to do some strategic rearranging in the warehouse to keep things tidy and streamlined.

When you’re not supplying production or moving goods in the warehouse, you prepare orders and load the right products in the right quantities into the trucks.

The hours fly by and your day is already over. Before you leave, you make sure everything is shipshape for your teammate, who will take over where you left off.

Work schedule

37.5 hours/week
Day shift: Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 3 p.m.
Evening shift: Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., with $2/hour premium pay
